The town board may require the subdivider to install street lamps along all streets proposed to be dedicated of a design compatible with the neighborhood and type of development proposed. Such lamps shall be placed at each street intersection and at such interior block spacing as may be required by the town board. The specific type and location of such light posts shall be approved by the town engineer. Shielded luminaires with downward reflections, luminaries with cutoff optics, LED or similar energy-saving luminaries, and careful fixture placement may be required by the town board. In lieu of or in addition to the installation of public street lamps, the town board may permit the installation of private posts lamps at appropriate locations within a land division. The type and location of such post lamps shall be subject to approval by the town engineer and shall be maintained by the homeowners or condominium association. [Code § 14.08-13.]
